Augmented reality

nemoAR

Smart glasses for the pilot: the simplified nautical chart and AIS traffic in their field of view during the manoeuvre, without taking their eyes off the surroundings.

Situational awareness without looking away

During a pilotage manoeuvre, checking the electronic chart means looking down at a screen that is not always within reach from the bridge wing. nemoAR brings a simplified ECDIS view, integrated with AIS, to smart glasses: critical information is checked in one or two seconds, hands-free and without diverting attention from the surroundings.

  • Official reference cartography: navigable channel, contours, soundings, coastline and port infrastructure.
  • Real-time ship position with heading, speed and track.
  • AIS overlay with targets and their data.
  • Route and waypoints, with progress tracking.
  • Safety zones, warnings and depiction of restrictions and hazards.

How it works

A pilot plug collects the ship’s navigation data and feeds it into the NemoPilots service. The nemoAR mobile app, with no operational interface, sends only the information strictly needed for the HUD to the glasses over Bluetooth.

  • Designed for degraded connectivity and variable latency: simple, predictable behaviour on drop-outs and reconnections.
  • Safety-centred degraded modes: the last valid view is kept, with clear status markers.
  • Minimal interaction: no menus or repetitive actions; a support layer that accompanies the manoeuvre.
  • It does not replace the official ECDIS or the PPU: it is a complementary quick reference.
  • Designed with pilots: reduced symbology, high contrast and explicit rules on what must not be shown, validated with users.
